Hi there, I’m Lauren Webber and I’m a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. You may be wondering what distinguishes a Holistic Nutritionist from other practitioners like Dieticians. For one, I am not regulated by the government, which means I’m free to pass on my own philosophies about food, I do NOT have to follow the Canada Food Guide as a reference to help my clients. The word “Holistic” is a very important term as well. It pertains to viewing a person as a whole and taking into account not only their diet, but also mental and social factors affecting their health. My job title is R.H.N., but within that title I am also an educator and a source of ongoing support, guidance, and empowerment on your journey to regain balance. Everyone is on their own path in life and I recognize that each individual is very different through their lifestyle, their beliefs, their level of motivation, their preferences and their body constitution and take this into account when putting together wellness programs that work best for each client. I’m here to help you get in tune with and listen to what your body needs to feel nourished, healthy, and happy and bring you back to a basic, more simplistic way of life that has worked for many before us!
This is the time designated for me to get to know who you are and understand your main health concerns and goals, determine where you’re at currently, how you feel about your experiences with health so far, what you expect out of coming to see me and, most importantly, what you expect from yourself! At this point, I’ll have sent you my intake forms, which you will have filled out prior to this appointment. I’ll review those forms while you fill out a few more for me so that we can get really specific. We’ll talk about your lifestyle, eating habits, health history, stress levels and sleep patterns, as well as any prescribed medications or supplements you may be taking. I want to know anything and everything about you so that we can work together to set achievable goals and keep you excited about your wellness journey. We’ll discuss what could potentially be contributing to your main health concerns or symptoms while touching on the basics of healthy eating habits. I will be sending you home with homework at this time.
What you can expect to receive within your individualized wellness program:
- Specific diet recommendations
- Recipes, as well as a potential meal plan (depending on your preference)
- Delicious meal & snack ideas
- Supplement recommendations (if felt needed)
- Lifestyle recommendations
- Additional educational handouts that support your plan
The first follow up visit, which should be scheduled no less than a week after the initial visit based on my needing the completion of a diet diary, is where we will go over your first dietary, lifestyle, and potential supplementation recommendations from your individualized wellness program. We’ll discuss how to integrate these suggestions into your current day-to-day life as well as talk grocery stores, shopping lists and tricks, delicious meal ideas based on your preferences, and answer any nutrition-related questions. The following visits are useful in that they’re time for us to assess your progress and make any necessary modifications to your program so as to keep you motivated and focused!”
